Note: In my case we spend a lot of time on speaking and listening because I'm shit at it, I already know the vocabulary, kanji and grammar. Honestly can't imagine self-studying from Minna no Nihongo, there's hardly any explanation in the main textbook. This is how we learn from it, hope it helps. I only bought the main textbook but the school provides all other course materials, you may find them in the other MNN books. I am using Minna no Nihongo with my tutor, we're not in Japan.
